The month of Nissan ( which begins this year on Thursday, March 30th) is the headquarters
for newness. Newness means that I am not bound to what was before. I am free to chose to
be and do as I want. Someone who is enslaved in habits, limiting beliefs, and concepts can
not taste newness. A sign that we are close to God is when everything feels new to us, full of
wonder and possibilities.

Nissan is the month to leave your personal restrictions and limitations and move to greater
freedom. It is time of miracles and redemption. This was the month when the Jewish people
were redeemed from Egypt, it will be the month in the future when the final redemption will
take place and in every Nissan there is the hope and expectation that something new and
wonderful will happen.... The scent of spring in the air makes us aware of the new life
emerging in nature and reminds us to pay attention to the new energies stirring within us as
well. There is a heavenly influx of grace and compassion this month that enables us to go
forward in our lives.

Today it felt to me like Spring was indeed going to come once again. I almost stopped waiting
for it to come. It has been a long cold winter on so many levels for many people on a
personal level and for the world as a whole. But with the advent of Spring, it feels that a new
chapter is opening. I  even felt inspired to do some spring cleaning, to begin to clean my
kitchen, to think about Passover.  It was not just that the weather was a little nicer today in
New York, but there is something in the air now that wants us to lighten up, to let go of the
old, and to open to the new.

In the next week's as we move into Nissan and prepare for Passover, it is the time to be even
more conscious and grateful for simple blessings of life, of the new possibilities and
opportunities that present themselves to us at this time and most importantly to be willing to
deepen our experience with the truth of what is, with our true selves and the Being we call
God. Whenever we do this, we are brought into the joy of newness.
