This year: Sunset on August 8th to sunset on August 9th, 2006.
You'd think that people would have had enough of silly love songs...
Look around you - you know it isn't so. Love is by far the most discussed, pondered, sought out, and controversial of the emotions. It makes us act like fools, throw our lives away, become better people, even kill, all "In the Name of Love."
|

Its here today, gone tomorrow. One moment we're in love, the next moment we're out of love. We look
for it at nightclubs, online, and in our homes. We hold onto it like its priceless, yet abuse it like its
worthless.
What is up with love?
According to the Zohar, love is more than just mere emotion. It's a manifestation of cosmic circuitry that
takes place in the 99% realm of our universe. It's the effect, not the cause, of a true spiritual
connection between two people - two halves of one soul. It is analogous to the connection between
malchut and zeir anpin, the physical and spiritual, left and right columns – creating balance and
complete connection to unlimited fulfillment.
Tu B'Av is the one day a year that all masculine and feminine forces in the universe, from the celestial
bodies to the tiniest of insects, unite in harmony. It takes place during the month of Leo, which is
controlled by the sun. It happens on the 15th day of the lunar month, when the moon is full. On this
day of the year alone, the sun and moon give off equal amounts of energy. Every creation in the world
experiences total completeness. The earth and the cosmos are in perfect balance. Soulmates have
the opportunity to meet, unite and reinforce their relationships. And for this reason, love is in the air.
The Sages equated Tu B'Av with Yom Kippur as the most positive days of the year. Why? Because the
balance, the reciprocity, the harmony between the forces that control this universe allow the circuits of
energy between our world and the Upper World to flow abundantly. This connectivity allows us to
reach unimaginable spiritual heights, so much so that on this day, soulmates can be reunited.
Kabbalah teaches that this is the day Israel entered the promised land after wandering in the desert
for 40 years! It is the time when we can fully “connect to our promised land” – the divine Light of the
Creator, the Upper Worlds, the 99%. Though the “messiah” is born on the 9th day of Av (meaning our
consciousness is transformed into “messiah consciousness”), today, on the 15th of Av, we experience
the joy and fulfillment of this transformation. The connection that started on Tisha b’Av (the 9th) is
complete on Tu b’Av (the 15th)
Additionally, kabbalah tells us that 40 days before a soul is born into this world, soulmates are
“assigned” to each other. You don’t need to search for your soulmate! He/She is already here… all
you need to do is be open to receiving the divine wisdom to bring the right individual into your life. We
can manifest what is “in store” right now -- today! Similarly, Tu B’Av is 40 days before the 25th of Elul
(the day of Creation according to kabbalah). It is on this day that “soulmate assignments” are made,
thus our actions on this day have the power to draw this person into our life.
We can download this energy of love, balance and harmony during the 24 hours of Tu B'Av. We can
use it as a resource during those tough times in our relationships. We can also use that energy to get
closer to finding our soulmate, and becoming truly complete. We can use this energy to make our
existing relationships complete, and to build our vessel for balanced relationships to come. Moreover,
we can use this day to balance the Light and Vessel relationship within each of us, so that our desire
can be that of sharing instead of to receive.
Love lifts us up where we belong...
On Tu B'Av, we make this connection for ourselves, for our community, for the world. Be a part of the
harmony that is only available on Tu B’Av, and then be a beacon for this Light the entire year round –
for your soulmate, for your friends, for your family, and for yourself.
All you need is love…
Ways to Connect:
1. Spend time appreciating balance in your life. The negativity that may have occurred during
the “Nine Days” and “Tisha b’Av” (9th day of Av)… recognize that it had a purpose… The universe is
“rigged” for your success, so even in negative things there is a lesson to be learned. Appreciate
these occasionally difficult lessons as you move on… to a day where we learn from joy rather
than pain.
2. In ancient Israel, women would dance in the fields dressed head to toe in white. Men would go out
to the fields and propose to women on the spot. Today, feel free to dance and skip. Be bold
enough to consider the idea that you deserve to be happy. Take action to see your divine right
manifested. The kabbalist Moshe Luzzatto said that “the purpose of creation was to bring into being a
creature who could derive pleasure from the goodness of G-d.”
3. Spend time with your loved one appreciating what you bring to each others' life and spiritual
development. Spend time outside enjoying the moonlight and increased positive energy. Dance
under the moon!
4. Each month, on the fifteenth of the month, when the moon is full, all of the positive energy that is
available for that month is manifest. On Tu b’Av all the positive qualities of Leo are at their prime.
There is balance been sun and moon, right and left. The correction point for this month – simply put –
is “shut up and listen. Stop being the center of the universe.” Today, in taking the time to REALLY
listen, the gates to wisdom are open. We will see the seeds of tomorrow today. You will know
where connections are to be made in relationships, in business, and so forth. This is how soulmates
are made. By having the wisdom to know where connections are to be made and by having balance in
left and right (giving and receiving, “shut up and listen”) so that this wisdom can shine through. Like
always, practice restriction, practice transformational sharing, and use the tools available to
you to tap into this awesome energy!
